Job summary

Oaks Healthcare in Poteau, OK, is seeking a licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our geriatric care team. You will follow physician orders, document histories, and monitor vital signs to support quality resident care.

You will administer injections and basic care, observe progress, and communicate with families. The role emphasizes wound care, infection control, IVs, and medication management under state regulations.

Qualifications

• Must have a current LPN license in state of Oklahoma.
• Experience in community-based care settings preferred.
• Ability to follow state regulations and company guidelines.
• Criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Follow Physician orders and provide detailed assessment data for quality resident care.
• Record a patient’s medical history accurately.
• Take and record measurements of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate etc.
• Observe patients under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc.
• Document any change in patients’ condition, notify Physician, supervisor and document
• Administer injections, prescribed medications, enemas etc., clean and dress wounds and assist with other basic medical care tasks
• Collect samples for lab testing as assigned
• Provide emotional and psychological support when needed
• Communicate with patients’ family or friends to provide advice, comfort and release instructions

Job Requirements:

• Have a current state LPN License.
• 1-year experience as an LPN, in a community-based care setting (preferred).
• Follow State regulations as well as company policies and guidelines.
• Must pass criminal background check.
• LPN students who meet certain criteria may be considered for this position!
