Job summary

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for its Cardiology Clinic. Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:00 am–5:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am–4:00 pm; no weekends or holidays.

You will support the RN with patient assessments, plan of care, wound care, and medication administration. You will document care, advocate for patients, assist with daily living activities, and participate in clinic meetings while maintaining safety

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.
• Current LPN license to practice in Kentucky (or compact).
• BCLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Under RN direction, assist in patient assessment and data collection.
• Carry out plan of care, administer medications when directed.
• Document care provided and monitor patient status.
• Assist with activities of daily living and ADLs.
• Schedule procedures and obtain pre-authorization as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean clinical environment and participate in meetings.

How you'll contribute

• Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
• May administer medication.
• Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.
• Attend clinic meetings.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
• Reports all incidents, hazards, drug interactions, and initiate appropriate action.
• Completes safety instructional programs.
• Assist other team members when time permits.

What we are looking for:

Education:

• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program

License:

• Current LPN/PN to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and be in good standing with the Board of health Professions
• Active Kentucky license (single state or compact) required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.

Certifications:

• BCLS within 30 days of hire/transfer

Minimum Work Experience: Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds
