Job summary

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky, seeks an Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Cardiology Clinic. Schedule: Monday–Thursday 8:00 am–5:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am–4:00 pm with no weekends or holidays.

You will work under an RN, perform wound care, administer medications, document care, and assist with daily living activities. Qualifications include graduation from an approved practical nursing program and an active Kentucky LPN license (compact license acceptable).

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.
• Licensure: Active Kentucky LPN license to practice.
• Certifications: BCLS (within 30 days of hire).
• Active Kentucky license (single state or compact).
• Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes and insurance benefits.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of an RN, assess patients by data collection for RN analysis.
• Perform plan of care interventions including wound care.
• May administer medication as ordered.
• Document care provided to patients.
• Assist RN with plan of care development and daily living activities.
• Monitor and communicate patient status with RN/physician and families.

Education

How you’ll contribute

• Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
• May administer medication.
• Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.
• Attend clinic meetings.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
• Reports all incidents, hazards, drug interactions, and initiate appropriate action.
• Completes safety instructional programs.
• Assist other team members when time permits.

What we are looking for:

• Education: Graduate of an approved practical nursing program
• License: Current LPN/PN to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and be in good standing with the Board of health Professions
• Active Kentucky license (single state or compact) required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Certifications: BCLS within 30 days of hire/transfer
• Minimum Work Experience: Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds
