Job summary

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our care team on a Full Time, Monday–Friday schedule from 8am to 5:00pm. Under the direction of an RN, you will participate in patient assessment, plan of care, wound care, medication administration, and documentation to support high-quality, compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.
• Current LPN license in Kentucky in good standing.
• BCLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Experience assisting RN and performing nursing procedures.
• Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT codes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of an RN, collect data for patient assessment.
• Perform plan of care interventions including wound care.
• Administer medications as directed.
• Document patient care accurately.
• Assist with activities of daily living and patient mobility.
• Monitor patient status and communicate with RN and physicians.

How You'll Contribute

• Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
• May administer medication.
• Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules, appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.

Non-Essential Functions

• Attend clinic meetings.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
• Reports all incidents, hazards, drug interactions, and initiate appropriate action.
• Completes safety instructional programs.
• Assist other team members when time permits.

Education

What we are looking for:

• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.

License

• Current LPN/PN to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and be in good standing with the Board of health Professions.

Certification

• BCLS within 30 days of hire/transfer.

Minimum Work Experience

• Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds.
