Job summary

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a PRN shift (6:30/7:00). You will provide direct patient care under RN supervision, assist with assessments, and help implement care plans across pediatric to geriatric populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care supervised by a registered nurse.
  • Assist in RN assessment by collecting data for analysis.
  • Perform plan of care interventions including wound care and specimen collection; may administer medication.
  • Document patient care provided.
  • Assist RN with development of plan of care.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living.
  • Monitor and communicate patient status to RN/physician/family.

How you'll contribute


  • As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.

  • Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.

  • Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication.

  • Documents patient care provided.

  • Assists RN with development of plan of care.

  • Assist patients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

  • Monitors, documents, and communicate patient status and responses to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and family.

  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

  • I participate in performance improvement and continuing education.

  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.

  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.

  • Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.

  • Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees.

  • Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex
