Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists in Port Jefferson, NY is seeking an LPN to support patient care across our cancer and blood disorder program. You will update EMR, assist physicians, manage exams, and educate patients.

This role requires NY LPN license, BLS, and reliable transport to NYCBS locations. Spanish-speaking preferred; strong communication and teamwork are essential. We offer comprehensive benefits starting day one.

Qualifications

• Current NYS LPN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Spanish-speaking preferred.
• Professional conduct with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up-to-date vitals, demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies and diagnoses.
• Manage physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks in the EMR.
• Assist in maintaining medical inventory and stock rooms to ensure supplies.
• Prepare and clean exam rooms before patient appointments.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and provide patient education on medications and disease management.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures; prepare and administer injections.
• Perform phlebotomy and collection of lab specimens; conduct point-of-care testing and EKGs.
• Administer medications under physician order and ensure medication safety.

Job Description:

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Location:Port Jefferson, NY

Hours: 4/10 hr shifts Mon,Tue,Thu,&Fri (RDO Wed) 7:30am-6pm
Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)

In This Role, You Will:

• - Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up to date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies and medical diagnoses
• - Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record
• - Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff
• - Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
• - Escort patients to exam rooms
• - Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets
• - Assist physician with exams and/or procedures
• - Prepare and administer Injections
• - Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
• - Perform point of care lab testing
• - Perform EKGs
• - Administer and document medication under a physician’s order and follows the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medical error

We Require:

• - Current NYS LPN license required.
• - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• - Spanish-speaking preferred
• - Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
• - Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
• - Experience with EMR’s
• - Reliable transportation to any of NYCBS location for patient care needs
