Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Bronx, NY location. The role involves EMR duties, patient education, injections, phlebotomy, EKGs, and collaboration with physicians in a fast-paced oncology/hematology setting.

Requirements include NYS LPN license and BLS certification; Spanish is preferred. We offer comprehensive benefits starting day one and a 4/10 schedule with Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri shifts (Wed off).

Qualifications

• Current NYS LPN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Spanish-speaking preferred.
• Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with patients and health care professionals.
• Experience with EMR systems.
• Reliable transportation to NYCBS locations.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up-to-date vital signs, demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies and diagnoses.
• Manage physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks in the EMR.
• Assist in maintaining medical inventory and stock rooms.
• Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments.
• Escort patients to exam rooms.
• Provide patient education on medications, disease management, home treatments, and diets.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
• Prepare and administer injections.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect lab specimens.
• Perform point-of-care lab testing.
• Perform EKGs.
• Administer medications under physician order and adhere to five rights to reduce error.

Job Description:

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Location: Bronx, NY

Hours: 4/10 hr shifts Mon,Tue,Thu,&Fri (RDO Wed) 8am-6pm
Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)

In This Role, You Will:

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up to date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies and medical diagnoses
• Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record
• Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff
• Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
• Escort patients to exam rooms
• Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets
• Assist physician with exams and/or procedures
• Prepare and administer Injections
• Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
• Perform point of care lab testing
• Perform EKGs
• Administer and document medication under a physician’s order and follows the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medical error

We Require:

• Current NYS LPN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Spanish-speaking preferred
• Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
• Experience with EMR’s
• Reliable transportation to any of NYCBS location for patient care needs
