Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) in Port Jefferson, NY, seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for full-time shifts 4/10, 7:30am-6pm. You will support medication administration, patient education and EMR documentation, working closely with oncologists and staff.

Requirements include NYS LPN license and BLS; Spanish-speaking is preferred. The role involves direct patient care, injections, phlebotomy, EKGs, and teamwork to deliver compassionate cancer care at NYCBS.

Qualifications

• Current NYS LPN license is required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with vital signs, demographics, allergies and diagnoses.
• Manage physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks in the EMR.
• Assist in inventory management and stock rooms.
• Prepare exam rooms and escort patients to rooms.
• Provide patient education on medications, disease management and home care.

Job Description:

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Location: Port Jefferson, NY Hours: 4/10 hr shifts Mon,Tue,Thu,&Fri (RDO Wed) 7:30am-6pm Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)

In This Role, You Will:

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up to date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies and medical diagnoses
• Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record
• Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff
• Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
• Escort patients to exam rooms
• Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets
• Assist physician with exams and/or procedures
• Prepare and administer Injections
• Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
• Perform point of care lab testing
• Perform EKGs
• Administer and document medication under a physician’s order and follows the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medical error

We Require:

• Current NYS LPN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Spanish-speaking preferred.
• Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
• Experience with EMR’s
• Reliable transportation to any of NYCBS location for patient care needs
