Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Bronx, NY. Shifts are 4/10, Mon Tue Thu Fri, 8am-6pm with Wed off, providing comprehensive cancer care.

Responsibilities include EMR updates, patient education, injections, phlebotomy, EKGs, meds administration, and supporting physicians in exams and procedures. NYCBS offers strong benefits and growth in a patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Current NYS LPN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• Spanish-speaking preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with patients and staff.
• Experience with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up-to-date vital signs, demographics, medications, allergies and diagnoses.
• Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks via the EMR.
• Assist in maintaining medical inventory and stock rooms.
• Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments.
• Escort patients to exam rooms.
• Educate patients on medications, disease management, home treatments, and diets.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
• Prepare and administer injections.
• Phlebotomy and collection of lab specimens.
• Perform point-of-care lab testing.
• Perform EKGs.
• Administer and document medications under physician orders with proper rights.

Job Description

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Location: Bronx, NY

Hours: 4/10 hr shifts Mon,Tue,Thu,&Fri (RDO Wed) 8am-6pm

Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)

In This Role, You Will

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up to date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies and medical diagnoses
• Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record
• Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff
• Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
• Escort patients to exam rooms
• Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets
• Assist physician with exams and/or procedures
• Prepare and administer Injections
• Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
• Perform point of care lab testing
• Perform EKGs
• Administer and document medication under a physician’s order and follows the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medical error

We Require

• Current NYS LPN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Spanish-speaking preferred
• Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
• Experience with EMR's
• Reliable transportation to any of NYCBS location for patient care needs
