Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our Port Jefferson, NY location. You will update EMR records, support physicians, manage inventory, and assist with exams, injections, phlebotomy, and EKGs.

The role requires a current NYS LPN license, BLS certification, and EMR experience. Spanish-speaking is preferred. We offer a competitive starting wage with full benefits and opportunities to grow within a dedicated oncology team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up-to-date vital signs, demographics, med reconciliation, allergies, and diagnoses.
• Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks in the EMR.
• Assist in maintaining medical inventory and stock rooms to ensure supplies are available.
• Prepare exam rooms and escort patients to exam rooms.
• Educate patients on medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets.
• Assist physicians with exams/procedures and prepare/inject medications.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect lab specimens; conduct point-of-care testing and EKGs.
• Administer medications under physician orders and adhere to medication safety rights.

Job Description:

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Location: Port Jefferson, NY

Hours: 4/10 hr shifts Mon,Tue,Thu,&Fri (RDO Wed) 7:30am-6pm
Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)

In This Role, You Will:

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up to date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies and medical diagnoses
• Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record
• Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff
• Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
• Escort patients to exam rooms
• Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets
• Assist physician with exams and/or procedures
• Prepare and administer Injections
• Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
• Perform point of care lab testing
• Perform EKGs
• Administer and document medication under a physician’s order and follows the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medical error

We Require:

• Current NYS LPN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Spanish-speaking preferred
• Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
• Experience with EMR’s
• Reliable transportation to any of NYCBS location for patient care needs
