Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Port Jefferson, NY. The role supports physicians, manages EMR tasks, and assists in exams and procedures in a fast-paced oncology setting.

The ideal candidate will have an NYS LPN license and BLS, with strong communication, patient care, and attention to detail. Spanish speaking is preferred; benefits start day one.

Qualifications

• Current NYS LPN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Spanish-speaking preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients and staff.
• Experience with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up-to-date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies and medical diagnoses.
• Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the EMR.
• Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff.
• Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments.
• Escort patients to exam rooms.
• Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets.
• Assist physician with exams and/or procedures.
• Prepare and administer Injections.
• Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens.
• Perform point of care lab testing.
• Perform EKGs.
• Administer and document medication under a physician’s order and follows the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medical error.

Job Description:

Location:Port Jefferson, NY

Hours: 4/10 hr shifts Mon,Tue,Thu, Fri (RDO Wed) 7:30am-6pm
Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)

In This Role, You Will:

We Require:

• Current NYS LPN license required.

• Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.

• Experience with EMR’s

• Reliable transportation to any of NYCBS location for patient care needs
