Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks licensed Professional Engineers who are comfortable in a contractor's office pitching a testing program and in reviewing compaction reports or sealing geotechnical letters. You will balance business development with technical workload, maintaining the client relationships you win and earning compensation tied to the revenue you bring in.

The role relies on a strong network of clients and your stamp on projects.

Qualifications

Active PE license in the posting state or ability to obtain by comity within 90 days.
6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection with client-facing responsibility.
Proven track record of bringing in work or a credible plan to do so.
Comfortable pricing, negotiating, and saying no to unfavorable contracts.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a book of clients—general contractors, owners, developers, and design firms—for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
Serve as engineer of record on projects won: review field/lab data, resolve failing tests, seal reports/letters.
Direct technicians and inspectors on projects and coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in the market.
