Job summary

AEG Vision in Lima, OH is seeking a Licensed Optician to provide expert eyewear solutions and outstanding patient care. You will assist patients in selecting frames, lenses, and lens treatments, ensuring proper fit and accurate dispensing.

You will interpret prescriptions, educate patients on care and insurance, and coordinate order status with technicians and managers, delivering a superior optical experience.

Qualifications

• State licensure required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Optical dispensing experience.
• HIPAA experience preferred.
• PC skills including MS Office, Windows, and word processing.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Excellent customer service and pleasant demeanor; sales experience preferred.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Deliver extraordinary patient experiences and explain our customized product recommendations.
• Assist patients in selecting frames, lenses, and treatments based on prescription, lifestyle, and personal style.
• Stay current on products, manufacturer rebates, and lens and frame options.
• Take and return patient calls; update patients on order status and escalate issues as needed.
• Educate patients on eyewear care, warranties, insurance coverage, and replacement options.
• Enter prescription data into the EHR and ALE systems and ensure documentation is attached.
• Follow up on pending orders and notify patients when eyewear is ready.
• Dispense and adjust eyewear for proper fit and comfort.
• Inspect final product for quality; clean and polish lenses.
• Maintain clean and organized frame boards, displays, and work areas.
• Communicate with technicians and managers for order status and patient information.
• Respond to patient questions about insurance, pricing, and upgrades.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
