Job summary

DHL Express is hiring a Clearance Manager in Kentucky to oversee customs clearance operations, ensuring compliance with US Customs and participating agency rules while driving process improvements and staff development. The role requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and excellent communication across diverse teams.

Reporting to the Senior Clearance Manager, you will coach teams, manage performance, and ensure timely delivery.

Qualifications

• U.S. Customs Broker License required.
• Typically requires BS/BA and 3-5 years of experience in Customs Clearance/International Trade in a supervisory or management role.
• Demonstrated success in leading, supervising, managing, motivating and developing staff.
• Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple tasks and set priorities.
• Ability to make customers and their needs a primary focus of one's actions; developing and sustaining productive relationships.
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with people from multi-functional and diverse backgrounds.
• General knowledge in U.S. Customs and International trade with understanding of valuation, classification, compliance/audit and trade programs.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees and customers.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Access to secured airport areas requiring SIDA badge and background checks.
• Anticipated Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice to internal and external customers.
• Ensure staff operations meet timeframes and governance standards; adhere to rules.
• Develop and implement process improvements for the business.
• Ensure policies are consistently administered.
• Assigns work, sets completion dates, reviews work, and manages performance.
• Meet key performance indicators and targets.
• Manage a large number of staff via supervisors or exempt contributors.
• Ensure performance planning, coaching, and evaluation per policy.
