Job summary

The Monroe Township Public Library seeks a Technology Support Specialist to maintain and advance the library's technology systems for staff and patrons. This part-time role requires technical proficiency and a collaborative attitude.

You will monitor networks and devices, assist with cybersecurity training, create user guides, and coordinate vendor work. The position offers flexible hours (15–19 per week) including mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree or certification in a computer science/tech field; or 2+ years in technology services.
• Commitment to supporting the library’s mission and priorities.
• Exceptional customer service with strong verbal and written communication.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proactive troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated technical competence with a drive for continuous learning.
• Sound time-management skills with the ability to work independently.
• Must be 18+ and reside in New Jersey; pass pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor the integrity, performance, and security of networks, servers, and databases.
• Perform routine updates, maintenance, and proactive monitoring for uptime.
• Install, maintain, test, and repair PCs, laptops, printers, A/V equipment, and peripherals.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and system issues, with possible after-hours support.
• Support A/V equipment setup in meeting rooms for staff and events.
• Provide technical assistance and training to staff and patrons on library systems.
• Coordinate cybersecurity training for staff per Monroe Township.
• Develop standard technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
• Maintain records for hardware inventory, licenses, warranties, and network configurations.
• Coordinate outside IT contractors and vendors during projects.
• Collaborate on technology projects and library goals.
• Assist in developing technology plans and evaluating emerging tech trends.
