Job summary

City of Grapevine seeks a part-time library assistant under supervision to reshelves circulated and in-house materials, enabling immediate recirculation. You will shelf materials, read shelves, and assist with check-ins as needed.

The role requires a high school graduate or student, ability to learn Dewey Decimal shelving, basic typing, and strong communication in English (Spanish a plus). Regular attendance and professional interaction with the public are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service mindset and professional interaction with the public.
• Ability to learn alpha-numeric filing and Dewey Decimal Classification system.
• Basic word processing, typing, and strong spelling/grammar skills.
• Ability to learn and follow library procedures accurately.
• Physical ability to perform job functions and lift up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Reshelves circulated and in-house materials to enable immediate recirculation.
• Shelves all library materials and shifts as needed.
• Check-ins returned material when necessary.
• Emptys drive-up book drop and processes items.
• Collects items used by patrons and scans for usage statistics.
• Arrange book carts for shelving.
• Perform light cleaning and general housekeeping tasks.
• Maintain regular and timely attendance.
• Interact professionally with patrons and staff daily.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
