Job summary

Brazoria County invites applications for a part-time Library Assistant working 14 hours per week, with Monday through Saturday shifts including some evenings. Candidates must be at least 16 and have completed 2 years of high school, with strong confidentiality, communication, and basic math skills.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and have completed 2 years of high school.
• Maintain confidentiality per county and library policies.
• Able to use standard office software and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.
• Communicate effectively with patrons and staff.

Responsibilities

• Regular attendance is required.
• Sorts and shelves all library materials according to the Dewey Decimal System.
• Shelf-reads, organizes, straightens, and shifts collections as necessary.
• Provides public assistance in use of collections, catalogs, electronic resources, and related services.
• Assists in office-related tasks as necessary.
• Assists with library programs and outreach, including preparation and presentation as needed.
• Answers telephone calls.
• Implements library policies and procedures for patrons.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Evenings and weekends are required.
