Job summary

City of Grapevine’s library is seeking a Casual/Part-Time Library Aide to assist with shelving circulated and in-house used materials, enabling immediate recirculation. Under supervision, you will stock shelves, perform shelf reads, and handle returns while maintaining clean, orderly stacks.

You will provide friendly customer service, assist with basic filing and data entry, support daily operations, and help with light cleaning and routine duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to learn alpha-numerical filing and Dewey Decimal Classification.
• Ability to learn shelving procedures and library workflows.
• Must pass a background check.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening and tests.

Responsibilities

• Shelves all library materials and shifts as needed.
• Shelf reads all materials.
• Checks-in returned material when needed.
• Empties drive-up book drop.
• Collects materials used by patrons and scans for usage statistics.
• Arranges book carts for shelving.
• Performs light clean-up activities involving litter, dusting, etc.
• Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
• Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers, and others in the course of daily work.
• Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
