Job summary

Brazoria County library seeks a part-time Library Assistant to assist patrons, manage circulation, and perform essential library tasks at the service desk. You will handle check-ins and check-outs, assist with readers’ advisory services, and help with daily statistics and outreach activities.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) and reliable attendance, with evenings/weekends required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training.
• Equivalent combination of education and training as determined by HR.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assists patrons, manages circulation, and provides other library functions.
• Works the public service desk and provides customer service.
• Implements library policies and procedures for patrons.
• Operates integrated library system software (ILS) to check materials in/out and process requests.
• Provides public assistance in light reference and readers’ advisory services.
• Answers and directs telephone calls.
• Records daily statistics and reconciles revenue reports.
• Attends staff meetings and assists with library programs and outreach.
