Job summary

Library Systems & Services, LLC is seeking a Library Supervisor to oversee Library Associate 1s and 2s at the circulation desk, ensuring outstanding customer service, account openings, holds, interlibrary loans, fines, and lost materials handling.

The role emphasizes supervising staff, coordinating scheduling, training, and coordinating with librarians to plan programs, while upholding privacy and policy compliance; 40 hours weekly, with some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• 3 years library experience.
• 1 year supervisory experience.
• Proficiency with library systems and databases.
• Excellent written and verbal communications.
• English/Spanish speaking is a plus.
• Ability to work a schedule including days, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to patrons at the circulation desk.
• Supervise junior Library Associates including performance management and interviewing/training.
• Collaborate with Librarians to plan, implement and promote programming.
• Process newly acquired library materials, including labeling and covers.
• Inform patrons of rules of conduct and enforce them when appropriate.
• Maintain circulation records and oversee mailing of materials to patrons in homebound or other programs.
• Process damaged materials to maintain collections.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
• Support reference desk with patron questions.
• Coordinate volunteers and train staff for effective teams.
• Demonstrate listening and problem-solving; excellent planning and organization.
• Embrace change and help strategize.
• Follow privacy and custodianship policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
