Job summary

Library Systems & Services, LLC. in La Quinta, CA, seeks a Supervisor to oversee Library Associate 1s and 2s, primarily at the circulation desk, delivering excellent customer service and managing holds, interlibrary loans, fines, lost materials and patron issues.

Hours per Week: 40. The role requires supervising experience, library systems proficiency, and the ability to work a schedule that may include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3 years library experience; 1 year supervisory experience.
• Proficiency with library systems and databases.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
• English/Spanish speaking is a plus.
• MS Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work a schedule that may include days, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer service to patrons at the circulation desk.
• Supervise Library Associates including performance management and hiring.
• Plan, implement and promote programming with librarians.
• Process new library materials with stamps, labels, RIDF and covers.
• Inform patrons of conduct rules and enforce them as needed.
• Maintain circulation records and mail materials to homebound patrons.
• Process damaged materials and assist with opening/closing procedures.
• Assist the reference desk and patrons with questions.
• Coordinate volunteers and provide training to build strong teams.
• Demonstrate listening, planning and organizational skills; adapt to change and think strategically.
• Follow privacy and custodianship policies; perform other duties as assigned.
