Job summary

Cumberland Public Library is seeking aMaintenance Worker to perform cleaning and building maintenance, assist with security, and support daily operations. Tasks include routine cleaning, minor repairs, and coordinating with service vendors to keep facilities safe and welcoming.

The role requires physical stamina, independent work, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions. 35-hour weeks with varying shifts and some weekend duties.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 2 years of building maintenance experience or related technical training.
• May include vocational/technical degree related to building maintenance or combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cleaning and plant operations: opens/closes, floor care per schedule.
• Oversees service contracts and manages vendor relationships.
• Vacuuming, dusting, restroom and kitchen cleaning, trash removal per schedule.
• Performs basic repairs: lighting, plumbing, electrical tasks as needed.
• Responds to security issues with staff and assists with enforcement of rules.
• Sets up rooms for events and assists with moves of furniture and materials.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Facility Manager.
