Job summary

County of Brown's Central Library is seeking a Library Maintenance Worker to perform interior and exterior upkeep, cleaning and basic repairs to keep our facilities safe and welcoming for customers and staff. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:00 am–2:00 pm with some flexibility; work may involve travel to other Brown County Library branches as needed and duties include furniture setup and event support.

You will operate maintenance equipment, monitor safety, and assist with special projects

Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge of housekeeping and maintenance methods and materials.
• Basic knowledge of library operations, services and materials.
• Knowledge of minor repair techniques for equipment maintenance.
• Operates various maintenance equipment effectively.
• Knowledge of paint types and applications.
• Identifies and reports safety issues and problems.
• Strong verbal and written communication; represents the library professionally.
• Maintains cooperative relationships with staff and diverse customers.
• Works independently with minimal supervision.
• Multitasks and prioritizes with attention to detail.
• Follows detailed verbal and written instructions.
• Performs repetitive, routine procedures.
• Meets flexible scheduling needs of the library.
• Adapts to changes in the work environment.
• Displays basic computer skills (keyboard, word processing, email).
• Uses general office equipment (computer, printer, photocopier, telephone).

Responsibilities

• Clean and upkeep Library buildings interiors and exteriors.
• Operate and maintain cleaning and maintenance equipment.
• Perform minor repairs and basic building maintenance tasks.
• Assist with furniture setup for events and programs.
• Support library staff in monitoring behavior and safety.
• Provide coverage for other duties as needed.
• Maintain documentation and adhere to safety/quality standards.
