Job summary

The Cumberland Public Library is seeking a part-time custodian/maintenance worker to keep the building clean, secure, and welcoming. This role performs custodial tasks and light maintenance with independent judgment under the Facilities Manager's supervision.

Hours are 18 per week, with evening and occasional Sunday shifts; some Saturdays may be required. The right candidate is flexible, works well on a team or alone, and can lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform custodial and maintenance tasks as needed.
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to library operations.
• Evening and Sunday availability.

Responsibilities

• Clean staff and public restrooms; replenish supplies.
• Maintain public areas on first and second floors; staff offices.
• Remove trash and recycling from public and staff areas.
• Assist with setup and breakdown for library events.
• Perform building closing duties: alarm checks and locks.
• Provide snow removal and salting during winter.
