Job summary

Cumberland Public Library in Cumberland, RI is seeking a FT Building Maintainer to perform cleaning, maintenance and security tasks across library facilities. You will operate plant systems, assist with security, and help keep the environment safe and welcoming for patrons and staff.

The role requires physical work, involves snow removal and occasional weekend shifts, with a starting rate of $21.75 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of cleaning and building maintenance methods and tools.
• Awareness of hazards and safety precautions in building trades.
• Ability to schedule cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to perform maintenance without close supervision.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate verbally and by email.
• Ability to work cooperatively with staff and vendors.
• Professional appearance appropriate to a business environment.
• Physical stamina to move loads and climb ladders.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and plant operations tasks as scheduled.
• Identify and perform basic repairs and maintenance (electrical, plumbing).
• Resolve non-routine problems in plant systems and coordinate with Facility Manager.
• Assist with library security and enforce rules as needed.
• Set up rooms, assist with events, move loads and deliver packages.
• Perform other duties as required by the Facility Manager.
