Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library is seeking a part-time Customer Services Specialist for the Canal Winchester Branch. You will provide welcoming service, assist patrons with reference questions, library cards, and technology, and support daily branch operations.

The starting pay range is $18.01–$23.26 per hour, commensurate with experience. This role offers benefits, paid time off, retirement plans, and opportunities for growth in public service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of Internet and database services.
• Ability to operate library technology including Windows/Microsoft Office.
• Reliable transportation to report to assignments.

Responsibilities

• Process and sort materials, returns, reservations, and new items.
• Welcome customers, answer reference questions, and guide to resources.
• Assist with library cards, account rules, and payments.
• Balance cash drawers and prepare deposits.
• Resolve account disputes by interviewing customers and negotiating.
• Assist with opening/closing, supplies, and maintaining displays.
• Maintain collection and shelves; process withdrawn/donated items.
• Train customers on library technology; troubleshoot tech issues.
• Coordinate volunteers and orient new staff.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.
