Job summary

Daniel Boone Regional Library is seeking a part-time Circulation Clerk to support the circulation team. The role involves checking out materials, issuing library cards, answering patron questions, and handling cash for various fees.

Staff rotate through workstations, assist with holds and overdue notices, and help maintain shelves and collections. Hours include evenings and weekends; the position emphasizes customer service, ethics, and ongoing professional growth within a collaborative library

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of customer service or library experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the public by checking out library materials using the automated circulation system and other designated equipment, with knowledge of circulation procedures.
• Assist the public in obtaining a library card by accepting the application, issuing the card, providing information brochures, and following procedures.
• Answer questions at the circulation desk and over the phone, offering information and referrals as appropriate.
• Operate cash register and handle payments for copies, library cards, materials, fees, and supplies.
• Perform circulation duties and respond to renewals, overdue, lost/damaged items, delinquency status, and lost and found issues.
• Sort, load/unload carts, shelve materials, and assist with collection maintenance and related tasks.
• Assist with refunds, deposits, postage replenishment, and participate in departmental projects as needed.
