Job summary

UC Santa Cruz is seeking Circulation & Collection Maintenance Assistants to support two service desks, ensure security, and maintain operations at McHenry or the Science & Engineering Library.

Under supervision, you will perform desk duties, supervise student staff, and participate in safety procedures and unit initiatives. This is a campus-based role with full benefits and a career appointment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/training.
• Demonstrated customer service experience.
• Experience supervising staff and coordinating work.
• Library experience with automated systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to work with diverse patrons.
• Attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate circulation desk duties including check-ins, holds, recalls, and renewals.
• Supervise ~20 student workers; schedule and evaluate performance.
• Maintain library security and handle safety procedures.
• Participate in unit, department, and library initiatives.
