Job summary

Holy Cross College in Notre Dame, IN seeks a Circulation Services Lead – Afternoon/Evening to provide front-line support, coordinate staff coverage, and lead circulation operations at McKenna Library. The role reports to the Director of Library Services and is full-time during the academic year.

Responsibilities include managing service-desk operations across Folio, Tipasa, and related systems, developing staff schedules, cross-training, and ensuring smooth handoffs between shifts.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in library services, preferably in access or circulation.
• Familiarity with scholarly information sources and citation styles to assist undergraduates.
• Courteous, tactful, and nonjudgmental service with strong communication skills.
• Ability to learn and adapt to library systems, databases, and technology.
• Ability to work independently, stay organized, and exercise independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Support service-desk operations across library systems including Folio, Tipasa, InfoExpress, and FiNDIt.
• Develop and maintain the service-desk schedule for staff and student coverage.
• Provide cross-training for service-desk functions and maintain related documentation.
• Coordinate continuity across shifts by communicating relevant service information.
• Coordinate with libraries and partners to resolve circulation, courier, and mail issues.
• Serve as the designated adult staff member responsible for library operations during assigned hours when the Director is away.
• Maintain a visible, welcoming service-desk presence and assist patrons with catalog, collections, and reserves.
• Perform other duties related to library operations as assigned by the Director.
