Job summary

City of Longview Public Library is seeking a Circulation Clerk to staff the circulation desk and assist patrons with services and materials. You will respond to inquiries, process loans, update accounts, and help maintain library operations.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and two years of circulation/customer service experience; a valid Texas Driver’s License is required. The position supports a public library environment and customer-focused service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and two years circulation/customer service experience.
• Experience handling library materials and assisting patrons is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Staffs the circulation desk and provides customer service to patrons in person and via telephone.
• Responds to circulation and general library inquiries and explains library policies.
• Issues library cards, processes holds and interlibrary loans, and checks items in/out.
• Monitors patron accounts, accepts fines, and balances cash receipts.
• Updates patron information in the library system and assists with computer classes.
• Assists in maintaining library facilities and displays, and performs opening/closing duties.
