Job summary

The City of Oceanside's Oceanside Public Library is seeking an hourly Library Associate II to provide friendly customer service across multiple locations, including Mission Branch Library, Civic Center Library, and Landes Community Center Library, and outreach sites, and drive Library vehicles, such as the home delivery, courier or outreach van.

This journey-level position requires basic library knowledge, six months of public contact experience, a high school diploma, and a valid California

Qualifications

• Six months public contact or customer service experience, preferably in a library.
• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
• A valid California driver's license or ability to obtain one.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desirable.
• Willingness to work variable hours including evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.
• Background reference check and medical examination may be required.

Responsibilities

• Shelves library materials and maintain correct order on shelves.
• Assist customers with self-checkout and self-payment of fees.
• Support opening/closing procedures and basic materials processing.
• Provide setup for displays and events; assist with programming and outreach.
• Support library volunteers and provide general library assistance to customers.
