Job summary

Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) in Nashville, TN is seeking a Library Assistant III to connect patrons with information, services, and library resources. You will handle assigned administrative duties, daily operations, and help establish goals and priorities.

Responsibilities include analyzing patron needs, guiding users to catalog and databases, and managing circulation and reserves. Prior experience with Banner and customer service is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree and one year of relevant experience.
• Two years of higher education experience preferred.
• Experience with Banner preferred.
• Experience in writing or teaching research.
• Experience in customer service.

Responsibilities

• Performs job duties from the assigned campus or work location.
• Analyzes patron information needs, selects and recommends library resources to best match educational and research needs.
• Demonstrates use of library resources including how to search the online catalog, electronic databases, card catalogs, traditional print resources and the Internet.
• Interprets library policy and procedures for patrons; responds to special requests and questions in person and on the telephone.
• Performs circulation and reserves modules for material check in and out tasks and to facilitate accurate circulation charges.
• For Technical Service roles: perform a variety of activities related to acquiring; processing and cataloging materials to ensure Library materials are accessible to patrons.
• May encumber students / staff records for nonpayment of fines per Library policy; clear records when payment received or issue resolved.
• May develop work schedules for student workers.
• May train, supervise and assign tasks to student workers, verify time sheets.
• Assists catalogers in processing library materials.
• May conduct purchasing for the library.
