Job summary

State Center Community College District is seeking a Library Technician to support routine library functions and assist students, faculty, staff, and the public in locating and using library resources. Under supervision you will manage circulation, processing, reference assistance, and basic cataloging tasks across a district-wide setting.

You will also handle acquisitions, periodicals, interlibrary loan, reports, and equipment troubleshooting while maintaining accurate records and shelving.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; at least one year library experience.
• Associate degree in library technology desirable.
• College or university library experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist students, faculty and public in locating materials and using library resources.
• Handle circulation desk tasks and maintain patron records.
• Process new materials and prepare them for circulation and reserve.
• Perform interlibrary loan requests and explain loan procedures to patrons.
• Open/close library, manage cash drawers and deposits.
• Troubleshoot library equipment and coordinate with technical support.
• Support librarians with acquisitions, periodicals and cataloging activities.
• Maintain shelving order, shelf-read and locate missing items.
• Assist with multimedia items, contracts and checkouts with time limits.
• Prepare requisitions and maintain inventory spreadsheets.
• Engage with historically minoritized groups and promote equity-minded service.
