Job summary

BRCC seeks a Library Services Assistant to support daily library operations across BRCC locations in Baton Rouge. The role includes circulation, basic tech support, and helping students, faculty, and staff with information services, using the library's online system, and assisting at other sites.

Qualified candidates have an Associate’s degree or higher, at least one year of library or customer service experience, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills using computers, saving/opening files, cloud storage, printers, Microsoft Office and other technology applications.
• Willingness to learn new processes and skills in a dynamic environment.
• Must be willing to switch shifts to meet operational needs.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both oral and written.
• Physical ability to move books and lift up to 40 lbs., with bending and reaching as needed.
• Ability to work with diverse groups in an urban academic setting.

Responsibilities

• Participate in daily library operations, including check-ins, checkouts, and public services.
• Assist patrons with technology and software, including office apps and campus systems.
• Support access to online resources, LibGuides, and databases.
• Communicate with patrons by email, phone, and chat; help onsite and online with inquiries.
• Open/close the library; travel to BRCC sites to provide services as needed.
