Job summary

Fairfield University is seeking a staff member for the DiMenna-Nyselius Library in the Academic division. The role supports Access Services operations, supervises student assistants, and assists patrons with library materials, facilities, and equipment.

Responsibilities include overseeing service points, maintaining workflows and patron records, and coordinating with librarians to resolve inquiries. Evening/weekend hours may be required and the position emphasizes diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• One-year previous library or related experience.
• Demonstrated computer literacy.
• Demonstrated knowledge of integrated library systems.
• Supervisory and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the main service point with extensive service hours.
• Support access services-related tools including the ILS and student information system.
• Maintain workflows and patron records for Access Services.
• Explain and interpret circulation policies to patrons; resolve problems or refer to librarians.
• Assist with on-campus delivery and mailing of library resources; help patrons with printers and computer hardware.
• Supervise approximately 30 student assistants; coach, train, and evaluate performance.
• Assist with building access and facilities management; monitor security and respond to issues.
