Job summary

University of New Haven is seeking a Library Clerk II to assist students, faculty, and visitors with library services and materials. You will manage circulation, holds, course reserves, and database updates, while maintaining accurate records and providing helpful service in a busy academic library.

Applicants should have at least one year of public or academic library experience, basic computer skills, and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

Basic computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to type with speed and accuracy and maintain and organize files.
Basic math and bookkeeping skills.
Ability to perform light lifting, bending and reaching; push a full book truck.
Professional appearance and delivery when assisting students and staff.

Responsibilities

Charge and discharge library materials, including books, laptops, course reserves.
Place items on hold for patrons.
Process Course Reserves.
Update library databases as instructed.
Record and collect fines and other paid fees.
Respond to calls for assistance and answer directional questions from patrons.
Assist in setting up audio-visual equipment.
Assign and track usage of study rooms and library facility.
Monitor library equipment and perform basic troubleshooting tasks.
Explain and enforce library policies and procedures to patrons.
