Job summary

DePaul University is seeking an Access Services Assistant for the John T. Richardson Library on the Lincoln Park campus. You will handle circulation tasks, provide basic tech support, and supervise student staff during evenings and weekends.

You will contribute to stacks maintenance, course reserves, and interlibrary loan while aligning with the library's mission and DEI goals. The role requires an Associate's Degree or equivalent experience and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent experience required.
• Experience providing customer service required.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Proficiency with basic computer skills (email, MS Office, Google Workspace) required.
• Experience with Alma or other ILS preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and with high accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Provide circulation services at the Access Services desk, including borrowing, renewal, and return of materials and loanable technology.
• Serve as supervisor-on-duty during evenings and weekends per schedule.
• Provide supplemental support for stacks maintenance, course reserves, and interlibrary loan.
• Assist in onboarding, training, and supervision of student staff.
• Perform library opening and closing procedures.
• Report operational, facility, or staff issues to the Head of Access Services at shift end.
• Based primarily at the John T. Richardson Library; may require travel to DePaul’s Loop campus.
• Schedule 15–25 hours per week across weekday, evening, and weekend shifts.
