Job summary

Pueblo City-County Library District is hiring a Librarian/Assistant Branch Manager to oversee daily operations and assist the Branch Manager in a busy community library. The role emphasizes superior customer service, program development for children and adults, and partnership building with local organizations.

The position requires a Master’s in Library Science, at least one year of library experience, and leadership abilities to manage staff, schedules, and branch operations.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association-accredited program.
• One year of library experience preferred.
• Strong planning and program presentation skills for children and adults; ability to develop and present story times.
• Ability to conduct complex reference interviews and locate specialized information.
• Demonstrates courtesy, teamwork, and a professional image in customer service.

Responsibilities

• Promotes customer service by proactively offering assistance and guiding patrons to library materials.
• Lead youth outreach: story times, school outreach, and programs for children; coordinate reading programs.
• Partner with outside organizations to meet community needs and provide outreach to seniors and service centers.
• Build community partnerships and organize programs promoting library services.
• Prepare bibliographies for public distribution and assist with branch operations.
• Serve as PIC when manager is absent; supervise shifts and assist with cash and timekeeping.
• Explain library policies and resolve patron issues; train users on e-resources and devices.
• Attend staff meetings and stay updated on PCCLD services and events.
