Job summary

FreeStar Financial Credit Union in St. Clair Shores, MI is seeking a dynamic Consumer Lending Manager to lead our lending operations and develop a high-performing team.

You will oversee loan servicing, processing, and compliance, driving efficiency through technology and strong policy adherence. The role requires 5+ years in financial services and solid knowledge of lending regulations. Excellent communication, leadership, and a commitment to member service are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in the financial industry is required.
• Knowledge of Right to Financial Privacy Act, Regulation E, Regulation CC, Regulation ZZ, Truth in Savings Act, BSA, FACT Act is required.
• Ability to lead and develop a team within a lending department.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the consumer loan servicing department for portfolio management.
• Ensure all consumer loan processing and loan servicing procedures are up to date.
• Oversee processing of consumer loan applications to ensure closing standards are met.
• Analyze lending functions to use technology for improvements and create efficiencies.
• Monitor collateral protection, credit life/disability, and GAP protections.
• Ensure lien placement on titles for collateralized loans is proper.
• Ensure timely filing and processing of insurance claims.
• Cross-train staff to ensure coverage of positions and duties.
• Manage all credit card program functions, reports, and servicing operations.
• Work with Branch Leadership to ensure policies followed.
• Oversee consumer loan auditing, prepare reports and follow up on exceptions.
• Prepare monthly board reports.
• Maintain lending files and procedures for compliance.
• Balance General Ledger accounts and resolve any out-of-balance conditions.

Position Purpose

The primary purpose of the Consumer Lending Manager is to assist FreeStar Financial Credit Union in fulfilling our mission to positively impact the lives of our members, team members, and community through meaningful connections and progressive financial solutions. This is accomplished by ensuring consumer lending policies and procedures in place are in the best interests of the credit union and its members. Additionally, managing the day-to-day operations for consumer loan processing and servicing.

What You'll Do In This Role

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the consumer loan servicing department for portfolio management as it relates to booking, processing, and servicing of loans.
• Responsible for ensuring all consumer loan processing and loan servicing procedures are up to date.
• Oversee the processing of consumer loan applications to ensure closing standards are met.
• Analyze lending functions to use technology in all areas and make necessary suggestions for improvement and create greater efficiencies.
• Monitor the adding and refunding of collateral protection, credit life and disability, and GAP protections
• Responsible for ensuring all collateralized vehicles have proper lien placement on titles, regular follow up, monitoring, and action is taken to the Credit Union's lien is properly perfected on all collateralized loans.
• Ensure all insurance claims are filed and processed timely.
• Ensure the cross training of staff within the department to ensure adequate coverage of positions and duties.
• Responsible for understanding and managing all credit card program functions, reports, and servicing operations for the effective management of the credit card portfolio.
• Work with Branch Leadership to ensure all loans are being processed according to policies and procedures.
• Oversee consumer loan auditing, prepare reports, and track and follow up with team members on resolving any reported exceptions.
• Prepare monthly board reports.
• Maintain all lending files and procedures for compliance.
• Ensure all General Ledger accounts are balanced and work to resolve out-of-balance conditions promptly.

What You'll Bring To FreeStar Financial

• High School Diploma or some college preferred.
• Minimum of five year of similar or related experience in the financial industry.
• Must have knowledge of various federal regulations and the responsibilities relating to each act of the following:

• Regulation ZZ (Truth in Lending)
• Truth in Savings Act
• Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
