Job summary

FreeStar Financial Credit Union is seeking a Lending Representative to handle loan origination and customer interactions from our St. Clair Shores branch. The role involves inbound/outbound calls, reviewing accounts, and processing loan documents to ensure timely closings.

You will work Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays, 8 AM to 5 PM, earning $20–$23 per hour plus incentive bonuses. Benefits include PTO, 401(k) matching, and work-life balance focused culture.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of similar or related experience in the financial industry.
• Knowledge of federal regulations including Right to Financial Privacy Act, Regulation E, Regulation CC, Regulation Z, Truth in Savings Act, and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).

Responsibilities

• Assist membership with their financial needs over the phone, originate, maintain, and close loan applications.
• Review members' accounts and assist with loan-related concerns before and after origination.
• Reverse loan payments and perform additional financial transactions as needed.
• Follow up with members and affiliates to relay loan decisions promptly.
• Make follow-up calls to close approved loan applications.
• Maintain accurate loan files by communicating with dealers, insurers, and employers.
• Review documents, schedule closings, and monitor loan payoff and opportunities to originate new loans.

Salary: $20-$23/Hourly, plus quarterly/annual incentive bonus

Position Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Lending Representative is to assist FreeStar Financial Credit Union in fulfilling our mission to positively impact the lives of our members, team members, and community through making meaningful connections and progressive financial solutions. In addition, providing an excellent sales experience for our Membership by placing them in the best lending products for their needs.

What You'll Do In This Role:

• Primary responsibility is to assist membership with their financial needs over the phone. This includes incoming and outgoing phone calls in an attempt to originate, maintain, and close loan applications.
• Review members' accounts and assist them with any loan related concerns before and after origination.
• Reverse loan payments and perform additional financial transactions as needed.
• Follow up with members and affiliates to relay loan decisions in an expeditious manner.
• Make follow-up outgoing phone calls to members in an attempt to close approved loan applications.
• Communicate with dealers, insurance companies, and employers to maintain accurate loan files for underwriting.
• Efficiently review and verify supporting documentation for approved consumer loan applications, create loan documents, and schedule member closings for both DocuSign, and branch.
• Monitor the loan payoff spreadsheet and make outgoing calls to solicit for new loan originations.
• Monitor contact manager requests in Portico to assist branch with VISA travel requests, address changes, etc.
• Process loan payoff letter requests for members when necessary.
• Process letter of guarantee requests from insurance companies when necessary.
• Process subsequent action forms as needed.
• Update and maintain LDP and missed opportunity spreadsheets to track origination standards and goals.
• Review Booked Loan Report, CL/CD Report, and Missed Opportunity Report for accuracy.
• Review loan exceptions and execute necessary corrections to maintain the loan file.
• Provide suggestions on new and innovative ideas to improve processes and garner a positive working environment.
• Assist in documenting and revising procedures for the lending department as assigned.
• Review all Credit Union issued memos.
• All other duties as assigned by management.

What You'll Bring To FreeStar Financial:
