Job summary

The Oklahoma House of Representatives is seeking a full-time Reading Clerk/Subject Index Clerk. This role involves reading bills and amendments, conducting roll calls, and supporting the daily legislative process.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of three years of legislative experience, a Bachelor's degree preferred, and strong reading and communication skills. The position requires extensive knowledge of the legislative process and the ability to work under pressure during sessions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of legislative experience is preferred.
• Strong reading and oral communication skills are required.
• Advanced computer skills and the ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Read bills, amendments, citations, and resolutions; conduct roll calls during daily House sessions.
• Operate chamber voting, display, and microphone software.
• Track filed amendments for daily session.
• Update subject index for bills and assist in final journal.
• Develop and disseminate citations for the House of the Day program for medical providers.
• Assist the Chief Clerk with special projects.
