Job summary

Burns White LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to manage all phases of the legal billing process using firm software. You will generate invoices, resolve billing discrepancies, and support attorneys and clients throughout the billing cycle.

Ideal candidates have 1–5 years of legal billing experience, proficiency with Aderant/Elite/3E and Excel, and a commitment to accuracy, responsiveness, and professional client service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
• 1-5 years of legal billing experience preferred, especially electronic billing.
• Experience with legal billing software (Aderant, Elite, 3E) and e-billing portals (BillBlast, eBillingHub).
• Familiarity with the full billing cycle and e-billing vendor sites is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; highly accurate with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, identify problems, and resolve billing issues.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professionalism when interacting with internal and external customers.
• Contribute to a positive team environment through strong work ethic and clear communication.
• Complete special projects as requested by supervisor or management.
• Process changes and edits and generate invoices according to firm procedures.
• Perform electronic client billing accurately and in line with firm/client protocols.
• Monitor uploaded statements, research and resolve short-paid or rejected invoices; file appeals as needed.
• Follow up on appealed invoices to ensure revisions and resubmission.
• Prepare regular and ad hoc client billing reports for supervisors and attorneys.
