Job summary

Stater Bros. Markets is seeking a Leave Management Specialist to oversee leave administration and disability programs across the organization.

You will manage the end-to-end leave process, from initial request through return-to-work, ensuring policy compliance and accurate documentation. The role collaborates with HR, payroll, and benefits teams to coordinate paperwork, monitor balances, and advise employees and managers on eligible options.

Qualifications

• At least three years of experience in leave administration or related HR field.
• Strong knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, ADA, FEHA and state-specific regulations.
• Experience interpreting medical documentation and assessing disability accommodations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS for data management.
• Experience with leave exhaustion scenarios and transitions between leave types.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete leave process from request to return to work conforming to laws.
• Serve as primary contact for leave inquiries and guidance on options.
• Review leave requests (FMLA/CFRA/ADA) with proper documentation and approval.
• Coordinate with HR, payroll, and benefits to process paperwork and adjustments.
• Maintain records of leave balances, usage, and entitlements.
• Explain eligibility criteria and coordinate return-to-work plans.
• Collaborate with external vendors to manage transitions between leave types.
• Stay updated on changes in leave laws and update policies accordingly.
• Assist in training managers and employees on leave policies.
