Responsibilities
- Tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process and compiles statistical data.
- Uses gauges and other devices to verify conformity to standards of product.
- Exercises independent judgment in resolving product issues and solicits support when necessary.
- Maintains a high competency level of all product lines and product testing procedures.
- Provides leadership and problem‑solving assistance to inspectors.
- Accepts frequent supervision and assistance with regard to responsibilities.
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required with two years of inspection/production experience preferred.
- Ability to organize work and meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Basic arithmetic skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a noisy, dusty, industrial/manufacturing environment and be exposed to non‑toxic fumes, chemicals, grease, and oils.
- Ability to work with machinery and moving parts, vehicles, ladders, and scaffolding.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Ability to properly lift, carry, push, pull, manipulate, and transport up to 15 lbs, occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, and frequently lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to work in a non‑climate controlled environment.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions and pressing activities involving fingers, hands, and wrists.
- Physical exertion required, such as long periods of standing or walking over hard concrete surface.
- Exposure to recurring bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, sitting, climbing, stretching, or similar activities.
- Ability to reach at high levels.
- Must read, write, speak, and communicate in English.
- Must be able to work more than 40 hours weekly and perform tasks safely when operating all job necessary equipment, including moving vehicles.
- Individuals under the influence of illegal drugs, alcohol, or prescription medication that warns against operating machinery or driving a vehicle shall not be considered capable of operating necessary equipment safely.
