Job summary

Corning is seeking a Lean Engineer to advance foundational and transformational lean competencies across the manufacturing plant. You will partner with Operations and the Lean Manufacturing Supervisor to improve safety, quality, cost, delivery, morale and innovation while reducing waste and manufacturing costs.

You will drive Kaizen events, plan value-stream improvements, and lead cost-savings initiatives through collaboration with Engineering and Finance.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Industrial Engineering preferred.
• 2–5 years lean engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of lean tools and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Directly responsible for safe work practices and a safe environment.
• Develop lean skills within the plant and train others in lean principles.
• Plan and facilitate 3–4 Kaizen events per year with clear deliverables.
• Track cost savings and partner with Engineering and Finance to realize them.
• Support the site’s 5S program and participate in Gemba audits.
• Own a Value Stream Map and drive its upkeep and cost-reduction projects.
