Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Lead Mainframe Storage Engineer to join the Z Infrastructure team. You will ensure a highly available IBM z/OS storage platform, resilience against failures and cyber events, and support the enterprise compute and storage environment.

The role emphasizes DFSMS, backup/DR planning, data replication, capacity planning and automation with REXX. Strong knowledge of DS8000/TS7700 and Tivoli tools is required.

Qualifications

Deep knowledge of IBM z/OS environment.
Proficiency with IBM storage software and utilities (DFSM, DFHSM/DFDSS).
Experience with DS8000, TS7700, DFSMS configurations and data management.
Strong scripting in REXX for storage automation.
FICON connectivity and z/OS access methods (VSAM/QSAM).
Experience with copy services like PPRC/Metro Mirror/Global Copy and Safe Guarded Copy.

Responsibilities

Configure and maintain IBM storage hardware (DS8000, TS7700 VTS).
Design SMS configurations and manage data class, storage class, management class rules.
Oversee backups and disaster recovery planning with DFHSM/DFDSS.
Monitor capacity, plan upgrades and prevent storage shortages.
Write automation scripts in REXX to streamline storage ops.
Troubleshoot storage outages and perform RCAs.
