Job summary

ICW Group seeks a Managing Attorney to oversee the Litigation Management team, guiding operational processes and budgeting while reducing caseloads for Workers’ Compensation matters in California. You will coordinate with the department Director to align legal strategy with business goals and ensure efficient delivery of services.

The role requires strong litigation experience, supervisory ability, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; JD from an accredited law school required.
• Minimum 8–10 years of workers’ compensation legal experience.
• 1–2 years supervisory experience of associate attorneys, paralegals, or support staff.

Responsibilities

• Directs operations of law office personnel providing litigation and legal services.
• Contributes to strategic business decisions to achieve company goals.
• Ensures client satisfaction goals by evaluating productivity and quality of service.
• Identifies and implements work process improvements and remediations.
• Manages budgets and ROI, prepares reports, and tracks trends.
• Mentors junior attorneys, paralegals, and staff to grow their skills.
• Handles a reduced caseload of litigated workers’ compensation matters and advances files to resolution.
• Litigates California workers’ compensation cases before state and federal courts and tribunals.
• Represents ICW Group before courts and administrative bodies.
• Analyzes complex legal issues and develops defense strategies.
• Provides strategic legal advice and action plans.
• Assists in analyzing new legislation and regulations.
• Oversees a team of Litigation Management professionals.
• Supervises, mentors, and develops staff to improve performance and outcomes.
• Sets clear performance expectations and enforces values.
• Expands team expertise and maintains cadence of delivery.
• Answers questions and solves complex problems for the team.
