Job summary

Burnett Specialists in Houston, TX is seeking a Payroll Supervisor with Workday expertise to lead payroll processing across weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly cycles.

You will manage payroll staff, ensure accuracy and compliance, coordinate with HR and finance, and maintain system integrity and data confidentiality. This role requires a degree in accounting/finance (or 5 years equivalent), 2+ years supervising payroll, and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in accounting or finance.
• 2+ years of payroll experience, supervising payroll staff.
• Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and tax laws.
• Hands-on Workday payroll and timekeeping experience.
• Advanced Word/Excel/PowerPoint proficiency.
• Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information rigourously.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation, documentation, and disbursement of payrolls on all schedules.
• Ensure payroll processing is accurate and timely per company policy.
• Maintain Workday system integrity and alignment with related systems.
• Manage hires, terminations, pay changes, deductions, and garnishments.
• Be the payroll point of contact for employees at all levels.
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll data and employee records.
• Prepare payroll accruals and reconcile activity to GL.
• Develop and update payroll policies and procedures.
• Hire, train, and supervise payroll staff; provide coaching and feedback.
• Partner with internal teams and external vendors for system interfaces.
• Support process improvements and achieve team objectives.
