Job summary

The ASPCA's Community Veterinary Clinic is hiring a Licensed Veterinary Technician Staff and Floor Manager to support HQHVSN and primary pet care for cats and dogs in service areas. You will direct floor workflow, assist veterinarians, and communicate with clients to ensure high-quality care and a compassionate experience.

Based on NY requirements, you must have a NYS Veterinary Technician license and at least five years of small animal experience, including shelter medicine and supervision.

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from an accredited veterinary technology program or equivalent as determined by NYSED.
• Minimum five years experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician in small animal medicine and surgery.
• Experience in shelter medicine and/or high volume spay/neuter surgery preferred.
• Minimum two years people management experience.
• Must have current New York State Veterinary Technician License.

Responsibilities

• Perform a broad range of veterinary technician duties including venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, surgical preparation and assistance.
• Work with veterinarians, technicians and assistants to support HQHVSN and PPC for cats and dogs.
• Use low-stress handling techniques to provide a safe, compassionate environment for animals, staff, and clients.
• Communicate with clients to obtain history, assist with intake and discharge.
