U.S.VETS is seeking a Lead Veteran Service Assistant to oversee daily residential operations and supervise front-line staff in a veterans housing program. As a Lead Veteran Service Assistant, you will oversee daily residential operations, supervise front-line staff, and ensure veterans receive consistent, high-quality basic services in a safe and structured environment.This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with experience in residential programs, shelter operations, or direct service delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise daily delivery of residential services including shelter, meals, hygiene, and basic needsLead and support Veteran Service Assistant staff to ensure consistent, high-quality service deliveryCoordinate daily operations, including staff assignments and service coverageDevelop weekly staff schedules in partnership with the Veteran Services CoordinatorProvide training, coaching, and supervision to residential staffMonitor client behavior and de-escalate conflicts to maintain a safe and stable environmentDocument and report incidents, including verbal or physical altercationsEnsure smooth day-to-day operations and continuity of servicesCoordinate with leadership to maintain inventory of supplies and meal servicesSupport implementation of sobriety-focused programming, including UA testingOversee safety protocols and emergency procedures at the siteTrack and report residential services data and ensure timely documentationSupervise mail and client communication processes within the facilityMinimum of 2 years of leadership experience in nonprofit, shelter, or residential servicesAt least 1 year of experience in a Veterans Services, housing program, or similar settingProven ability to supervise and manage front-line staffStrong skills in conflict resolution, de-escalation, and client engagementExperience working in client-centered environments and supporting sober living or structured programsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsBasic computer skills for reporting and documentationAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentValid driver’s license and ability to meet insurance requirementsPreferred QualificationsExperience working with veterans, homeless populations, or behavioral health settingsExperience in residential shelter operations or supportive housing programsWhy Join U.S.VETSDirect impact on the daily lives of veterans in needLeadership opportunity in a fast-paced, mission-driven environmentCollaborative team focused on housing stability and supportive services
